The Stag

The folks in Hampstead attest that the succulent aroma of organic homemade burgers and beer on tap draws them in for an evening at The Stag headed by executive chef, Andrew Perritt. Even with London’s impressive sprawl of gastro pubs, this one ranks at the top of the list because the relaxing cabanas in a gorgeous garden make a great casual hideaway for a first date.

Gifted with a beautiful patio and a rich wood-paneled warm interior, The Stag is an ideal den for all seasons. Tall grasses and palm trees line the entry and lead to intimate ‘love seats’ near a row of fresh herbs. Highlights from the menu include the New Mexican burger and the Organic Chicken and Chorizo Salad. Sip a mojito or two with your date, gather mint leaves at your leisure, and you will surely be dazzled by the vintage 1960’s art deco chandeliers. In the winter you will want to relax on oversized black Italian leather banquettes under large red lampshades, while the Cooper Beech logs flanking in the fireplace creates a cozy living room. The traditional maple bar encases a selection of fine wines and liquor. The famed Sunday Roast draws a strong fan following. A fine selection of 12 British cheeses includes Cropwell Bishop, Cornish Blue, Stinking Bishop, and Yarg at the bar.

The Stag is a cozy, classical gastro-pub experience in London’s Hampstead quarter.
